Why Should Real Estate Agents Blog?

It seems like every other day an agent asks me, "Why should I blog?", "What's the point?", "Will blogging actually help me get a lead?" These are all valid questions! And I am here to tell you that you should blog, it is easier than you think, and you will, in good time, start to generate some leads off your blog. But you need to know how it works first.
The purpose of blogging is to direct people back to your personal website. You want to capture their interest on your blog so that the will click on the link that brings them to more information on your website. From there you can capture the lead!
But for people to actually find your blog you need to make sure you are blogging about the right things. You want to blog answers to questions that potential buyers or sellers are going to be asking Google. Let's say Joe types in "homes in Waconia" in the Google search bar and you have a blog titled and about "homes in Waconia". Your blog, if done correctly, will show up as one of the first few results on Google and hopefully will be clicked on by Joe! Here he will read all the valuable and wonderful information you published about Waconia and he will also find a link that directs him to your website and also to your IDX feed of actual homes in Waconia that are for sale. Wah-lah! You just got Joe as a potential lead before any other 3rd party website (Trulia, Zillow, etc.) did.
This just answered everyone's question of, "why should I blog?" It is because it is a free resource you can use that can help you generate some leads. Why would you not?! Take some time to sit down with me, or come to my Social Media Series blogging class to learn what to blog about, where to blog, how to blog, when to blog, etc. so that you can best optimize your online presence!
